“Oh, crap! We don’t have any clothes for Kurt! Costume department, we have to put something together! But there’s no time! Ah! … Chris, what are you wearing today? … Yeah, that’ll work! Go!”
Yes, I loved the outfit. BUT. Vest. Henley. T-shirt under the henley. Bet there’s a tank top under the t-shirt. DEAR PEOPLE WHO DRESS KURT HUMMEL AND CHRIS COLFER—INCLUDING CHRIS COLFER: HE IS NOT A FUCKING ORPHAN WAIF IN A DICKENS NOVEL, NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE MIGHT LOOK LIKE ONE MIXED WITH A HEFTY DASH OF SEXBEAST. PLEASE STOP DRESSING HIM LIKE HE’S GOING TO PERISH OF CONSUMPTION IF A BREEZE KICKS UP, OKAY?
…i have far too many feelings about this.
I love this outfit. It shows Kurt’s casual side, which we don’t see often. It shows Kurt’s vulnerability in this scene and more importantly, how willing he is to let Blaine see his vulnerability. We know that Kurt uses his fashion like armor. To see him in plain clothing like this is just… it makes me want to know his every thought here. How scared was he to finally talk to Blaine about Sebastian? Did he think Blaine would leave him? More importantly, had he decided that he was ready before this scene? Blaine had mentioned his layers earlier in the episode. I can’t help but assume that Kurt chose this outfit so it would be easier for them to take off later.
I love that Kurt’s style is maturing as he grows up. He’s realizing he doesn’t need clothing to make himself stand out - his compassion, the way he cares for his friends… that makes him shine brighter than anyone else in that school. Why would he want to hide his personality under absurd clothing. This isn’t to say that I hate everything he wears, but Kurt has gone through this fashion discovery that all high schoolers go through. As his character grows, so does his sense of style. He’s no longer this hyper-defensive gay teen and his style reflects that.
Kurt doesn’t look like a waif. Kurt doesn’t look sickly or scrawny or anything else. He looks hot. The tight shirt and vest accentuate his broad shoulders and the jeans look amazing on his legs.
I had no problems whatsoever with this outfit. I thought he looked very dashing. Yes, it’s casual, but the accenting on the vest gives it that Kurt Hummel flair.
It seems like only Blaine sees Kurt in this outfit, which makes it even more special in my mind. If Kurt Hummel is going to let his walls down, he’s going to do so with the boy he he trusts more than anybody in this world, and with no one else. It’s something special that he can give to Blaine, because there’s so much more to a relationship than sex, and they understand that so much better than it seems like two teenage boys should, but that’s what makes their relationship so incredible.
